About
Jaclyn Konopka, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction, with expertise in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgeries.
She is highly trained in advanced techniques for anterior based hip replacement surgeries, revision procedures for failed or infected hip and knee replacements, fracture surgeries adjacent to hip and knee replacements, partial knee replacements (patellofemoral and unicompartmental arthroplasties), and hip core decompression surgeries. Her surgical practice comprises both minimally invasive and technology/robotic-assisted techniques, and she is committed to a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care.
Dr. Konopka treats patients with various hip and knee conditions, including arthritis, osteonecrosis, dysplasia, bursitis, and other sources of joint pain, using both non-operative and operative approaches such as injections. She treats patients with all types of arthritis, including osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis from rheumatologic conditions, and post-traumatic arthritis. She also cares for patients with fractures and traumatic injuries. Her practice focuses on joint arthroplasty outcomes, surgical optimization, outpatient surgery when indicated, perioperative risk reduction, and addressing healthcare disparities.
Dr. Konopka earned her undergraduate degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences with a minor in Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she received multiple academic and athletic honors, including All-American in track and field. She then went on to earn her medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she also completed a research fellowship focused on ligament injuries and hormonal influences on musculoskeletal health. She completed her orthopedic surgery residency at the prestigious NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, where she was recognized for her outstanding commitment to patient care, professionalism, and research. She then pursued a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the University of Utah, where she trained under world-renowned leaders and innovators in hip and knee replacement surgery.
Over the course of her training, Dr. Konopka has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and her work has been presented at numerous national and international conferences, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). She remains an active member of both of these societies. She has also been involved in resident education, peer review, international medical mission trips, and quality improvement initiatives.
Dr. Konopka is passionate about improving patients’ lives and strongly believes that every patient deserves a personalized approach to their care and therefore takes the time to learn about each individual’s needs, lifestyle, and goals as these factors guide her recommendations. In addition, she finds it important to have a shared conversation with her patients when discussing which non-operative or operative intervention may be best for them. To assure the best outcomes for her patients, these conversations also include reviewing the risks and benefits of all possible treatments, assuring all non-surgical options are explored and exhausted first, and confirming that modifiable risk factors are optimized prior to pursuing surgery. She strives to have every patient leave feeling comfortable with their treatment plan and that the necessary time was taken to answer all of their questions.
Outside of medicine, she loves spending time with her family, especially with her rescue dog, Athena, whom she enjoys taking on hikes and long walks. She and her husband also enjoy golfing, skiing, and playing tennis. They are passionate about exploring the nation’s national parks and hope to explore all of them one day. As a former collegiate track and field athlete, running remains a strong passion of hers as well.
Dr. Konopka is performing surgeries at Middlesex Hospital, the Middlesex Center for Advanced Orthopedic Surgery, and Midstate Medical Center. She sees patients in Middletown, Newington, Marlborough, and Westbrook.
